High Performance Catalyst for Sulfuric Acid Plants

MECS® Sulfuric Acid Catalyst

Sulfur burningmetallurgicalspent acid, and wet gas sulfuric acid plants have trusted MECS® sulfuric acid catalyst products to reliably and economically convert SOto SO3 since 1925. As a world leader in sulfuric acid process technologies and catalyst production for nearly 100 years, our vast technical expertise and sulfuric acid production knowledge, coupled with our commitment to innovation, have enabled us to create a line of high-performance sulfuric acid catalysts for use in any type of converter.

Our research and development program is dedicated to maximizing overall plant operation and optimizing four key performance attributes — activity, pressure drop, hardness and service life — to yield the best sulfuric acid catalyst for every application. By balancing these attributes, Elessent Clean Technologies has been able to create a full range of high-quality catalysts that are reliable and durable, maximize conversion while reducing SO2 emissions, and provide for optimum pressure drop and run time. These features allow MECS® high-performance catalysts to boost plant capacity and improve efficiency.

The Ideal Choice for Plant Upgrades & Converter Revamps

MECS® XLP-310 catalyst is an excellent choice for acid plant converter upgrades, lower converter passes, and especially where conversion may be maxed out and the need for more expensive cesium catalyst is unwanted or unnecessary. Thanks to its advanced formulation and higher activity, XLP-310 gives your plant the flexibility to either increase conversion and reduce SO2 emissions or reduce revamp costs by utilizing a smaller quantity of catalyst at a fixed SO2 emission level. As an added benefit, XLP-310 and XLP-110 share a common shape. Therefore, they can be easily interchanged,  with no impact on pressure drop.

Catalysts for Every Application and Need

High-Performance GEAR™ Series

This innovative sulfuric acid catalyst is characterized by its:

Geometrically optimized shape
Enhanced surface area
Activity improvement
Reduced pressure drop

The GEAR™ Series’ distinctive hexa-lobed design reduces energy costs, extends operating time, boosts acid production, and reduces overall plant SO2 emissions. When incorporated into a new converter, GEAR™ will provide for the lowest capital cost as well.

XLP Series — Extended Surface Area

Our XLP Series enables low pressure drop and high conversion performance in all beds of the converter. XLP is the industry standard in sulfuric acid plants today.

Cesium Promoted

Our cesium promoted line of products enables low plant stack emissions and lower ignition temperatures for faster plant startups.
